THE PROGRAM
China is an ideal location for learning about international business. As the world's third largest economy , it is one of the world's largest exporters and importer s of goods. China is also one of the world's oldest civilizations with a history of nearly 5,000 years. Its rich cultural heritage makes China an excellent location for studying Asian culture.
The College of Business China program is offered in Chengdu, capital of the Sichuan Province located in south-western China. Chengdu has the reputation as a very "laid-back" city that emphasizes culture and relaxation. In recent years, Chengdu has attracted a variety of information technology multinationals including Intel , IBM , NOKIA , Motorola , SAP , Siemens , Canon , HP , Xerox , and Microsoft , as well as major international financial institutions, including Citigroup , HSBC , Standard Chartered Bank , ABN AMRO , and BNP Paribas .
In Chengdu, students can enjoy authentic world-known Sichuan cuisine and the Sichuan opera. A favorite of visitors is the Panda Research Base. Other popular day-trips include a tram-ride up Emeishan and visits to the Giant Buddha at Leshan and the Bronze Age (circa 2800 to 800 B.C.) archeological site of Sanxingdui. Chengdu also provides convenient access for weekend excursions to tourist destinations such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guangzhou and Jiuzhaigou nature reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
