Program Description:

PROGRAM

The primary purpose of this program is to introduce students to destination management, Thai cooking and serving, and provide the opportunity for international internships. The program will begin in Bangkok, and then move to Phuket, Thailand, one of the primary tourism areas of the country. During the first part of the program students will attend Prince Songkla University. Students will also study destination business management with a WSU professor, and visit a number of local tour operations such as diving, snorkeling, kayaking, culture and heritage, and animal and nature adventures. Course work will include consumer and management evaluations, and development of a business plan for a competitive tourism and hospitality company. Students will stay at a resort in Phuket and work in hospitality internships by "shadowing managers" to practice what they have learned about Thai culture and customs related to the hospitality and tourism industry.
