Program Description:

About Graduate Experience Abroad Program Options

If you are a graduate student interested in conducting research abroad, completing an internship or studying abroad, please set up an appointment to talk to an Education Abroad Advisor in the Education Abroad Office in Bryan 105 . You should also arrange to speak with your graduate advisor to discuss the logisitics.

Setting up a graduate experience abroad will require you to consider many  things such as:

  • What credit will you earn?
  • Will you enroll in credit at WSU for this experience? If not, you must work with a credit-granting institution.
  • Where will you complete your research/Internship or study?
  •  For how long will you stay abroad?
  • What will be your accomodation abroad?  
  • What costs are involved?
  • Do you have scholarships or grants you can utilize? 

Steps to Apply

1. Attend a a one-on-one meeting with an Education Abroad Advisor where you will learn more about selecting the right experience abroad, application procedures, the course/research/internship approval process, financial aid and scholarships, transcript and credit information, and passport & visas. To  sign up for an appointment, email edabroad@wsu.edu or call 509-335-6204. 

2. Apply for your passport if you don't already have one. If you have a passport, make sure it is valid until 6 months after you will return from abroad. See the Educaiton Abroad Office for more information.

3. Spend some time exploring different program options and understanding what diffeernt experiences may entail or demand of you. Research an information needed from you, requirements for conducting research in the specific country as applicable and what assistance you will be given from you professor/advisor.

4. Please note that you are required to complete the online Education Abroad application found on this website and potentially required materials and information about you and your proposal for the program/site abroad.

5. If you plan to use financial aid to fund your experience, please visit Financial Aid's study abroad FAQ webpage for more information. Information on Education Abroad scholarships can be found in Bryan 105.
